In 1765 the "predecessor" of this church had to be demolished because it was dilapidated. One year later, the Bleckeder Jacobikirche received its present form.

It offers a lot of special and valuable inventory, including a crucifixion group from the 15th century. The pulpit and baptismal font date from the 17th century.

At the beginning of the 20th century, two colored church windows were added to the left and right of the altar: here you can see the Christmas events and the Resurrection.

But the most recent history is also documented in the Bleckede Church: a church window shows a motif for the opening of the border in 1989, which was a special event locally for Bleckede - due to its location directly on the Elbe.

For the first time the church in Bleckede is mentioned in a document from the year 1272. At that time, Duke Johann von Lüneburg acquired the right of patronage over the Bleckeder church through exchange. Details about the extent and style of the old church are unfortunately not known.

In the middle of the 18th century, the church had become dilapidated. In 1756 the then Bleckeder Pastor Georg Wilhelm Hope wrote: "The church is in very poor condition, that neither the pastor in front of the altar and in the pulpit and the confessional, nor other people in their chairs can stand in the rain in bad weather." Therefore, the old church was demolished in 1765 and built in its place in 1766/67, the current St. Jacobi Church in a simple, late Baroque style.
