It consists of five high-profile sections: a collection of paintings, prints and sculptures with works of art from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century as well as important exhibits from archeology and natural and ethnological studies, as well as a coin cabinet. The water worlds, which are part of natural history, also contain more than 200 different aquatic species from different habitats.

For opera friends and those who are not from the region:Carmen on 26.07. and 18.07.2000 in Hanover. There are probably no more cards, but anyone who wants to can participate for free. In the Maschpark, behind the town hall, right next to the opera performance on the lawn. Huge screens are available, opera is completely transferred, an experience pure.We have been in the circle of friends for years. Best to bring with folding chair, drinks and cups. Good is also a cheese plate or similar. Light rain gear in reserve not bad either. But there are also stalls with beer, wine soda etc, also bratwurst or steak is to be had. Toilets are sufficiently available (only a bit short during the break)Better to arrive by train, because parking can be found on these days hardly in the area.A really, eventful evening. DeAnsturm on the lawn is enormous, you should have been there a good 1 hour before. There are also Opera friends, they have brought wallpaper tables, on a white tablecloth, multi-flame candlesticks, champagne coolers with appropriate drinks and food. Please bring only plastic glasses, no glass, and everyone cleans up after his own environment.Make a note of this appointment. Since 2014, the permanent exhibitions have been redesigned as the World Museum. The NaturWelten are on the ground floor. A combination of vivarium and natural history, of current and past habitats, which is unique in northern Germany. Starting in the water worlds with the development of life in water, to the land worlds and the diversity of nature from the coasts of northern Germany, the Caribbean to South America.Archeology and ethnology are presented in the MenschenWelten: The spectrum spans the evolution of people, the cultural development of Lower Saxony, and the discovery, conquest and change of the world. The archaeological collection houses countless objects from today's Lower Saxony. With the change of perspective around 1500, the visitor travels from the old to the new world. Special focus is put on holdings from South America or objects from the James Cook expedition to the South Seas. The art worlds contain paintings and sculptures from the Middle Ages to the Impressionists. A special highlight are the works of the German impressionists Max Liebermann, Max Slevogt and Lovis Corinth. The core of the coins and medals collection consists of the former royal collection of the Welfenhaus and contains many rare pieces from the then British empire.
