Hiking

The Maschpark in Hanover's Mitte district is a 10-hectare park south of the old town. It was created around 1900 and was the first municipal park in Hanover. The complex has not changed its original form and is a testament to German garden art at the end of the 19th century. In the north, Maschpark is bordered by the Friedrichswall. The New Town Hall was completed between Maschteich and Friedrichswall in 1913.

The Maschpark is a typical garden from the end of the 19th century. The quiet, subtle area of the Maschpark is a good example of the “mixed” garden concept of this time, which consisted of several different horticultural styles. The 0.1 km² Maschpark with its large pond in the middle, the picturesque bridge and the winding paths, was created in connection with the New Town Hall and the State Museum. The park's main feature is the pond with its many beech trees along the bank.
