Here the Leinewelle - an artificially created standing wave for surfers - is to be created based on the model of the Eisbach wave in Munich. The Leinewelle association for the Hanoverian restaurateur Heiko Heybey has been fighting for years. My last stand: On January 12th, 2021, the Hanover Administrative Court dismissed the fishing association's action against the Leinewelle. The initiators now want to start preparing for construction. We can be curious! If you want to find out more about the project, you can browse here: leinewelle.de

No swell, no surf! Just behind Leineschloss Palace and the Schlossbrücke (Palace Bridge) lies Hanover's standing wave. Inspired by Munich's Eisbach wave, Hanover's counterpart has been attracting surf-loving city dwellers since 2023. The wave is about eight and a half meters wide and is controlled by a hydraulic weir. The club can adjust the wave height to the water level and the surfer's skill level using an app. Surfing is done in booked time slots.

    You can book slots here:

The Leine Wave is a passion project for surf enthusiasts.

Initial tests have taken place, and the Leine Wave is scheduled to open in May 2023.
