The barrage Hameln in the city of Hameln is the only barrage in the Upper Weser. It consists of fixed weirs, the upper weir and the lower weir. Since 1733, the river island (Werder), which is located between the Upper and Lower Weir, a (repeatedly renewed) lock for shipping, which today in the area of responsibility of the waterway and shipping office Hann.
