Hiking Highlight
You can walk under the waterfall. Rain jacket recommended. Sturdy footwear and sure-footedness definitely necessary. The path to the waterfall leads through tunnels in which it can sometimes be wet. Definitely a nice experience.

The waterfall was dry in February 2020. There is said to have been little rainfall in the winter, but presumably the inlet was simply closed by the Levada do Brasileiro, as is often done due to construction work, as is currently the case on the way to the second tunnel, where rockfall caused major damage to the path are.
The former wooden crate with a tin roof was replaced a long time ago by a stable concrete roof.

Attention when moving on: The railing is unstable and the ground is slippery

Very nice reward after a long tunnel passage: steep, narrow, green and somehow mysterious

In the middle of the trail over a small wooden device a waterfall descends. This trail is just gorgeous, but beware: it could get wet and cold for a while. There is also a risk of slipping.

One of the most beautiful levada waterfalls in Madeira; The way to the waterfall is not particularly strenuous and the Levada Ribeira da Janela is reasonably secure, but surefootedness and a head for heights should still be available.
