The Moltkeviertel is a district of Essen near the city center about 1.2 km as the crow flies southeast of the main station. It is limited by the Kronprinzenstraße, the Ruhrallee, the pottery road, the Rellinghauser road and the railway line Essen Hbf - Essen-Werden (line S 6 to Dusseldorf and Cologne). Administratively it belongs to the districts Essen-southeast district and Essen-Huttrop. The center of the Moltkeviertel is the Robert-Schmidt-Berufskolleg, the former Royal Baugewerkschule Essen, on the corner of Moltkestraße / Robert-Schmidt-Straße.

With the mining not only workers came to Essen, also the prosperity returned. Suddenly there was a lack of housing estates. So you planned from 1908 the Moltkeviertel. It came very close to the concept of the garden city. Large gardens, public green areas, even tennis courts.
The gateway to the district was the Moltke Bridge. The putty-studded shell limestone flyover is still the most beautiful bridge in the city today
