Charcoal was burned here until the mid-19th century. An information board describes the history of charcoal burning and the mining of Bonerz in Albstadt.
Every year in autumn, on the occasion of the shepherd's festival, a real charcoal kiln is set on fire and harvested, i.e. the coal is salvaged after about 8 days
