This path, named after the painter Walter Leistikow (1865-1908), initially leads in a south-easterly direction in the Wiesental of the Löcknitz along the edge of the forest. The Löcknitz rises near Müncheberg and flows into the Flakensee near Erkner. The romantic valley was once the bed of an Ice Age watercourse. As a signposted hiking trail, it circles the Wupatzsee, which is surrounded by a wide, alder-lined shore zone and a reed belt.

The ponds within the riparian zone are considered spawning waters for amphibians. The lake is designated as a spawning sanctuary. Various species of waterfowl nest in the reeds. The meadows on both banks of the river are home to rare plant species such as orchid, frosted daffodils and buckbean.

Hubertus Bridge
The actual hiking trail ends at the Leistikowsteg, but the hiking trail continues via the Löcknitzinsel to the Hubertussteg, which crosses the old or "lazy" Löcknitz. The hike then leads back along the edge of the valley to the Oberförstereiweg at the height of the Oberförsterei.
