What looks so idyllic in the photos today used to be the Bach or Gerberviertel. The way out of town, past the "Mini Hotel", used to lead to the Mühlengraben and the tannery. The smell there wasn't as pleasant then as it is today. Around 1956-1962 the mill ditch was filled in. The course of the mill ditch was roughly that of today's Hengsteyseestrasse.
