If you have passed the viaduct and have this view, you are just past Herdecke and still has a small distance at the Harkotsee until the weather. The bridge is a great photo opportunity. Man feels somehow relegated back in time. If now a steam locomotive would roll over it, the time jump would be perfect. ;O)

The building, which is still endangered by gull (scooping out) on the piers, suffered badly during World War II and could not be used again until 1957. A good view of the Ruhr viaduct can be had from the shore of the Hakortsee - or from the water.
