The opening of the station took place on August 1st, 1908 and for the centenary the station was extensively renovated by the DB AG. The four-aisled platform hall is 130 meters long, 85 meters wide and spans nine tracks. With around 31,000 travelers and visitors per day, Lübeck's main train station is now Schleswig-Holstein's largest train station.
