On November 5, 1912, the tram line between Friedrichshagen via Schöneiche to Rüdersdorf was extended by 7.7 kilometers to Kalkberge. Since the old petrol locomotives could not manage the gradient on the new line, the entire line from Friedrichshagen to Kalkberge was electrified from 1912 to 1914.
Since Kalkberge was in the way of lime mining in the 1970s (at that time the new development areas of Marzahn, Hellersdorf, Ahrensfelde and Hohenschönhausen were being built, the cement came from Rüdersdorf), the line was relocated and this section was closed.

At the end of Redenstraße at Kesselsee you can still find a power pole and two old switch and fuse boxes from the former tram. Redenstraße is named after Friedrich Wilhelm von Reden, who was mining minister at the beginning of the 19th century and also worked in Kalkberge.
A few meters further on in Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße there are also remains of tracks that "disappear" in the spoil heap.
