On the Alvier you have a wonderful view to the west of the Walensee, to the north into the Rhine valley to Lake Constance and to the southeast into the Rhine valley up to Prättigau - in between to the mountains of the cantons of Appenzell, St. Gallen, Glarus and Graubünden as well as the peaks of Liechtenstein and Vorarlberg. Simply wonderful 😍😍😍. And the broad back of the Alvier and also the Alvier hut invites you to linger and enjoy.

Ascent, for example, descent options to the Alvier:
    - Through the southern flank of Palfris via Chemmi. (T3 with safety ropes)
    - Over the northwest slope from Buchser-Malbun via Alp Malschüel. (T3)
    - Coming over the northeast ridge via Barbieler Grat from Malschüel, the Schaner-Alp or the Alp-Arin. (T2)

The Alvier (2343 m above sea level) is the eponymous summit of the Alvier group in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, which only ends at the somewhat lower Gauschla (2310 m).

The Alviergruppe (also: Alvierkette) is a mountain range in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. The highest point is the Gamsberg at 2385 m. The chain extends between the Rhine Valley and the Seez Valley southeast of the Churfirsten from the Nideri to Sargans. Together with the Churfirsten and the Alpstein, the Alvier group forms the Appenzell Alps.
