    Werdenbergersee (Buchser See)
The Werdenbergersee is located in its entirety in the municipality of Buchs in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley. This is despite the fact that the eponymous town of Werdenberg with its castle is located to the northwest of the lake. The beautiful Werdenbergersee is located at an altitude of 447 meters above sea level at the foot of the Buchserberg. The lake is a good 250m long and 170m wide and the small Wettibach flows out of the lake.
The Buchser See is a popular local recreation area. A stroller-friendly shore path leads around the lake and a one-hour sensory trail begins at the lake. Fishing in the Werdenbergersee is not permitted.
On the north shore of the lake, Werdenberg Castle towers over the lake and vineyards lead from the town up to the castle.

The history of Lake Werdenberg is closely linked to the history of the noble family of Werdenberg and the County of Werdenberg.

In 1803, Werdenberg became part of the newly founded Canton of St. Gallen. Buchs retained Lake Werdenberg. Werdenberg Castle and the village of Werdenberg were awarded to the municipality of Grabs.
