According to an information board, not much is known about the chapel ruins. Originally a pagan shrine, a wooden chapel is said to have been erected here by a hermit in the 12th century. It gradually became a place of pilgrimage and was later rebuilt by the Cistercians of Pfaffenbronn as a sandstone chapel.

Cycling

The history of this chapel is not well known.
A legend says that a wooden chapel was built on the site of a pagan sanctuary in the 12th or 13th century, by a hermit, Blessed Richard, who died in the odor of sanctity. The place then became a pilgrimage. Pilgrimage reinforced by the presence of a source below, the "Climbronn", renowned for its healing properties.
