A few meters from the shelter there are still the remains of an observation tower which was dynamited by German troops in 1945 and which was never rebuilt. On the other hand, the Col du Pigeonnier inn was built instead.

Hiking

Former redoubt from 1708. After 1795, a station of the optical telegraph was built from Paris to Mainz. After 1884 used as a lookout point. The later built stone tower was demolished in 1945 and no longer built.
