The Lower Lock was part of the rafting facilities on the Kirnitzsch.
From around 1600, the water was dammed at the locks and the tree trunks were collected, which were then floated on the flood wave into the valley to the Elbe.
"An information board provides information about the history of rafting. The lock was renovated in 1998 and is protected as a technical monument. There was once even a boat trip here.
