As a resting and resting place, the Belvedere is a special highlight right on the Nordbahntrasse. The rock spur can be reached via a staircase at Askanierpark.

The BELVEDERE is a special highlight as a resting and resting place right on the northern railway line. The rock spur of around 1,000 m² is accessible daily from 9 a.m. to sunset via a staircase at Askanierpark. In the park there is a wonderful panoramic view of Heckinghausen, Wupperfeld and Barmen City.

With the construction of the Rhenish railway line in the valley of the Wupper in 1877, the property of the Hackenberg family, owners of the tape and strand factory of the same name, was divided into two parts on today's Sonnabendstrasse in Barmen. The Rheinische Eisenbahngesellschaft specially built a footbridge over the route to connect the villa with the family's summer house in a Japanese look. This was on the rock spur towards the valley with its fantastic view from Barmen to Langerfeld.

After the Second World War, a functional building was added to the summer house and served as a residential building for years until it fell into a deep slumber. In 2009 the Wuppertal Movement rediscovered it and thought about using it as a park in order to give the general public a wonderful view over and onto the city directly from the Nordbahntrasse.
