Bike Touring Highlight
The Pieschener Hafen is located in an artificially created basin of the Elbe on Leipziger Strasse between house numbers 97 and 99. It was built between 1856 and 1859.From 1921 to 1932 the annual "Beach Festival in Pieschener Winkel" took place on the harbor area. After a break lasting more than three decades, it was revived in 1965 under the name "Pieschener Hafenfest" and held every summer until 1988. Between 1997 and 2014 the festival experienced another renaissance, but had to be canceled in 2013 due to the flooding.Today the port is used by the water sports enthusiasts of the TSV Rotation 1990 e. V. (Bootshaus Leipziger Straße 91) as well as the Waterways and Shipping Office Dresden (seat Moritzburger Straße 1).Since 2010 the pier bridge has been connecting the pier with Leipziger Straße at the level of the Elbcenter. Angela Hampel's sculpture "Undine" stands on the pier.
