This is a beautiful hiking trail along the railway. During the GDR era, the Sputnik train ran along this railway embankment between Saarmund and Potsdam Central Station, now Potsdam-Pirschheide. Today, the RB22 train runs here between Golm and Saarmund, from Potsdam Central Station via Schönefeld to Königs Wusterhausen.
From the bridge over the Havel River, which connects the two halves of the lake, you have a beautiful view of the entire Templiner See, extending north to Potsdam, and south to Caputh and Golm.
