Our final tour in Pfalzurlaub led to the grandiose Wasigenstein Castle (in France). This can still be explored on well-worn sandstone steps and offers great views of the Wasgau.
Over the summit of the Maimont (border D-F) our way then led to the ruins of Blumenstein (in Germany). This also offers wonderful views. The short detour to the Peace Cross should not be missed - here too you have a beautiful view, especially of Petersbächel.
A successful end to your vacation.
      Palatinate - we'll be back!

      Nice tour from Schönau.
It began with an ascent on the Pfaffenfelsen and then continued on a beautiful path to the Bruderfelsen. Then it went to French territory and via the "Sieben-Burgen-Weg" to the Froensbourg. A steep castle ruin that is easy to explore. We had the ruin all to ourselves and we were able to finish the castle exploration just in time, before about 30 armed French soldiers came running along the way and occupied the castle, at least temporarily. 😅
Then descent to Hirschthal and back to Schönau.

It also rains once in the Palatinate. Therefore, today no major hiking tour was planned, but a "castle day" was inserted. At Dahn there is a massif of castles, consisting of 3 castles directly next to each other: Tanstein, Grafendahn and Altdahn. These can be reached on beautiful forest paths. We made a worthwhile detour to the Hochstein viewing rock. The castle massif is easy to explore via stairs and corridors. It was a lot of fun and always offered new views.

I am very impressed by the Altschlossfelsen, even though I have been hiking regularly in Saxon Switzerland since I was a child. There is nothing comparable there:
For almost 1.5 kilometers, red sandstone cliffs line up with red sandstone cliffs in the most magnificent colors and shapes. Simply fantastic!
The way there and back is rather unspectacular but on mostly natural paths and paths. We chose the circular route of the Altschloßpfad with a detour to the Teufelstisch.

A fantastic tour in fantastic weather. Today there were rocks, rocks, rocks and views.
The Dahner Felsenpfad is a wonderful path, smaller connecting pieces on wider paths are quickly forgotten with the variety of great impressions
      The signage is great

The Napoleonsteig is one of the rated hiking trails in the Dahner Felsenland and rightly so.
The varied trail leads to several impressive rocks at the beginning, then descends into beautiful wet meadow areas, climbs back up to rocks and at the end leads over an open plateau, from which you can review the distance covered again.
We extended the tour with an ascent to the Dürrenstein.
The weather was as perfect as the tour and even the PWV hut was open.
      A fantastic round.

Today we finally wanted to see the famous Elwetritsche of the Palatinate Forest. But the fabulous bird did not show up, although we followed the "Elwtritscheweg".
A very beautiful path, the highlight of which for me was the Roman rock, which can be climbed using ladders. In between there were two small showers today, but that didn't detract from the tour.
In the end, however, we were unfaithful to the path and instead added the ascent of the maiden jump. From the top you have a beautiful view of Dahn.
      Relaxed and varied round.

We see this rock from the terrace of our accommodation and have therefore explored it. From the top you have a beautiful view of Petersbächel.

The devil's table is definitely worth seeing. The further tour led over beautiful meadows to Salzwoog. Unfortunately, the way back from there was a rather boring, wide path (not recommended). After Salzwoog, a return to the forest might be the better choice.
