Queen Luise and her family regularly spent the summer months in Paretz Palace and Park. They turned their backs on courtly life in Berlin for a few months a year and enjoyed the peaceful and almost bourgeois life in the country. Schloss Paretz is a particularly important example of Early Classicism in Brandenburg. It was built in 1797 by David Gilly for Queen Louise of Prussia, who spent happy summer stays here with her husband, Friedrich Wilhelm III. The house was built in 2001 as a castle museum.
