Queen Luise and her family regularly spent the summer months in Paretz Palace and Park. They turned their backs on courtly life in Berlin for a few months a year and enjoyed the peaceful and almost bourgeois life in the country. The complex was built with high aesthetic standards: the palace and park were intended to be a royal country seat and a prime example of Prussian rural architecture.
You can see for yourself how extraordinarily successful the implementation of the plans is when you visit the castle and the park. You can find the opening hours and further information here: spsg.de/schloesser-gaerten/objekt/schloss-park-paretz.

Schloss Paretz is a particularly important example of Early Classicism in Brandenburg. It was built in 1797 by David Gilly for Queen Louise of Prussia, who spent happy summer stays here with her husband, Friedrich Wilhelm III. The house was built in 2001 as a castle museum. Particularly worth seeing are the historical paper wallpapers of the royal apartment. Castle and village of Paretz are also the scene of many cultural events.
