After the fall Burg Lenzen returned to the former owner, who donated the property to the BUND. Express wish: Preservation of the historical monument by use for humans and nature.

As the oldest town in Prignitz, Lenzen can look back on a history spanning over a thousand years. Presumably in the 8th century, Slavs from the Linonen tribe settled in the glacial valley of the Elbe. They built a ring-shaped fortification at the site of today's Lenzen Castle - Lunkini Castle.
The castle later came into the possession of the German noble family Edle Gans zu Putlitz. An early German castle was built on the Slavic ramparts. The castle tower, which is still in existence today, dates from this time in the 13th century, with walls over three meters thick.

Be sure to climb the tower of the castle, magnificent views. Garden is nice too. And in the vicinity you can swim great on Lake Rudower, free beach at the campsite at the city and the lake.

As early as the 8th century, the first fortress was probably built on the site where the castle stands today. The builders of the ring-shaped fortification "Lunkini Castle" were Slavs from the Linon tribe. In 929 the castle was captured by the troops of King Henry I.
The castle tower dates from the 13th century, when the castle was owned by the German noble family Edle Gans zu Putlitz.
Lenzen Castle has been owned by the Federal Environment and Nature Conservation Germany, BUND, since 1993. The BUND uses the castle as a hotel, meeting and visitor center, as well as for events, with environmental and nature protection in the foreground.
The castle park is also well worth seeing, there is a "discovery path" on which, in a playful way, information is provided about the nature in the area and in the Brandenburg Elbe valley.
For me, Lenzen Castle is a nice destination or a stop on my photo bike tours, because there are some great photo opportunities here and the castle park is a very nice place to take a break, during a bike tour or hike.

A pretty castle in a renovated condition. The castle is operated by the BUND and used as a hotel, as well as for conferences, assemblies, etc.
Behind the castle is a pretty castle park with an adventure trail, on which you can get closer to nature in a playful way, there is also a small suspension bridge here. Therefore, the castle park is certainly also interesting for children.
In addition to the castle and the castle park, the pretty and very natural river Löcknitz flows.
