Finale: Today, on our last stage, we finally went into the lively, but very worth seeing Montpellier. After about 1,350 km we have reached our destination and are very grateful for a great bike tour with many wonderful impressions! Thank you for your interest and your comments.

Our penultimate stage today took us from Le-Grau via the test-tube town of La Grande-Motte (architecture from the 1960s-1970s) along the coast to the beautiful and almost deserted beaches of Palavas and Maguelone, about 15 minutes south of Montpellier.

After a day off in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, we continued through the Carmague to the pretty town of Aigues-Mortes. After a stroll through town and some refreshments, we cycled on to (rather touristy) Le-Grau-du-Roi.

We left Arles early this morning in a southerly direction. Our stage took us to the beautiful Carmague, located in the Rhône Delta and a completely different landscape than previously in Provence. Shortly before Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer we finally arrived at the Mediterranean Sea and enjoyed bathing in the salty waters.

Today, after 2 rest days in and around Avignon, we continued on the Via Rhôna towards Arles, the city where Vincent van Gogh painted some of his masterpieces.

Today we left Viviers at 8 a.m. because it was supposed to be a very hot day. On the Via Rhôna we went south in a relaxed manner, in Bourg-Saint-Andéol we visited a weekly market that offered tons of vegetables and fresh groceries. And then the first blooming lavender fields finally appeared, a feast

We are slowly approaching our destination Montpellier. However, we are currently trying to keep the stages shorter, as it is now over 30 degrees every day from around 1 p.m. It suits us that there are hardly any climbs to overcome and it actually goes continuously slightly downhill. Most of the way along

Today's stage first took us back down to L'Isere and Romans-sur-Isere (which was sleepy on Monday mornings) in quite the heat. After a short break we continued cycling along the river to its marriage with the Rhône. On the Via Rhône we went to Valence, where we feasted in the "formidable" Boulangerie

From Voreppe, where we stayed with friends, we went back to L'Isere today. The first 20km was on an excellent bike path above the river and across from the mountains. Later we continued cycling on country roads until about noon and then had a 1.5 hour siesta under walnut trees (it is very hot here at

Today we drove to Grenoble on country roads that were wonderful to drive and past countless walnut plantations. There we finally had the long-awaited galette and we looked at the old town. In quite the heat we continued down the L'Isere to Voreppe.
