Directly in front of the town-side entrance to the palace gardens, a bronze sculpture of Crown Prince Frederick was erected in 1903. It was created by the Berlin sculptor Gottlieb Elster. The figure depicts the future Prussian King Frederick II, who lived at Rheinsberg Palace from 1736 to 1740. Here he indulged in various muses and studied literature. His bronze likeness is therefore shown leaning on a stack of books. In 1950, the monument was removed and stored in Potsdam-Sanssouci.

Generous donations made it possible to re-erect it in its original location in 1995.

The figure shows the later Prussian King Frederick II. In his younger years, from 1736 to 1740, he lived in Rheinsberg Palace. Here he cultivated a variety of muses and eagerly studied literature. His bronze image therefore rests on a stack of books. In 1950, the monument was removed and stored in Potsdam-Sanssouci.
