The first reason to visit Leer are the harbor and the historic old town. Because of the good condition of the historical buildings, it is considered to be the most valuable in the north-west. No fewer than four (4!) Castles can be found here in Leer, which indicates the importance of the city in the Middle Ages and modern times. The old town looks quaint and cozy. It is great fun to stroll through the old town on the partly historical pavement, to enjoy the many small and attractive shops and restaurants as well as its sights, especially since the directly adjacent historic port increases the overall ambience many times over in its magic. In a nutshell:
The old town of Leers with its pedestrian zone and the many historical buildings as well as the adjoining harbor are a dream of sightseeing. An absolute feel-good place with a 100% guarantee of enjoyment.
