The Paustenbacher Venn is located in the extreme northwest of the Monschau Heckenland between the towns of Lammersdorf, Paustenbach and Konzen. The area lies within the "Hohes Venn" nature reserve. The nature reserve extends over an area of 49 hectares. A narrow strip between the former Vennbahntrasse (now a bicycle path) and the parallel Eifelstrasse. This part of the Paustenbacher Venn is being renatured and is nature conservation. The rest of the country up to the Belgian border and Fringshaus has been drained and used as pasture.

Only separated from the High Fens by the route of the former Vennbahn, you walk over wooden walkways through a piece of barren but beautiful nature. For me one of the most beautiful parts of the Westwall hiking trail.

Here, among other things, the heather moor is being renatured and there has also been a meadow pipit breeding pair since 2020.
