The 500-meter-long Hakenterrasse (Polish: Wały Chrobrego) is the most famous building ensemble in Szczecin, named after the town planning councilor Wilhelm Meyer-Schwartau and named after the long-standing (1878–1907) Mayor Hermann Haken. The facility, located on the western bank of the Oder, was built between 1900 and 1914 on the site of the former Fort Leopold.
