The Marienkirche is a Müntzer memorial

The St. Marien architectural and historical monument, which has been used as a museum since 1975, is dedicated to the life and work of the preacher and reformer Thomas Müntzer, who announced his ideas in the Free Imperial City of Mühlhausen in 1524/25, with the Müntzer memorial on 100 square meters of exhibition space. The exhibition also explains his tense relationship with Martin Luther and also provides information about Müntzer's continued existence in the culture of remembrance, especially in the GDR. In addition, the permanent exhibition provides information about the building history of the church with the highest tower in Thuringia as well as about historical stonemasonry.
