The Hohe Graben was the eastern bank of the former Itschen ponds, which lay west of the city walls. Today, its ridge allows visitors to access the area from Blobach to Lentzeplatz and further towards Lindenbühl, extending the Hirschgrabenwall.
Besides breathtaking views of the churches St. Marien and St. Jakobi, the Hohe Graben, with its historic lanterns and wrought-iron railings, has a French flair. Coming from Lentzeplatz, a Dutch elm tree about 24 m high welcomes its guests and invites them to over 12,000 m² of green bathing.
