The lake is located about one kilometer southwest of Mühlhausen, south of the swan pond on the Thomaswiese. In the south is the Hofgut Weidensee. The Felchtaer Bach, which flows into the Unstrut, rises from the Thomasteich. (Source Wikipedia)

Hiking

The Thomasteich was excavated in 1607 in the spring area of a stream. When the Thomasquelle emerged in 1901 on a small hill northeast of the pond, it was additionally reinforced with karst water. Therefore, fir needles can occasionally be seen in the pond water today. The Thomasteich has been designated a nature monument and is owned by the Mühlhausen Anglerverein (anglers' association). The Unstrut-Werra cycle path leads past the pond directly from Mühlhausen.
