The opening verse "The moon has risen" of the "Abendliedes" is still present in Germany after more than 200 years. The level of awareness of its author Matthias Claudius, however, is much lower. To counteract forgetting, several monuments in Wandsbek commemorate the former poet, who is also considered one of the inventors of modern journalism.
