Old mine tunnel that I don't want to enter because of the risk of collapse.

Hiking

On the path from Rudolfshaus down to the Hahnenbach stream (not uphill on the Soonwaldsteig trail!), there is an inadequately secured mine entrance.

Even at the entrance, you can see the tracks leading into the darkness for mine carts. The tunnel and tracks extend several hundred meters into the mountain to junctions that lead further into the mountain.

History:

The "Altlayenkaul" mine near Rudolfshaus below Bruschied dates back to the 17th century. According to entries in old church records, 13 miners lost their lives there in a mine collapse in 1740.

Hiking

Numerous tunnels in the Hahnenbachtal valley bear witness to the mining past of this region... these tunnels even have tracks that were previously used for lorries
