Hiking

The city has just under 2500 inhabitants and is surprisingly manageable. Nevertheless, it is impressive to stroll through the alleys and streets of the town and to look at the mostly well-kept traditional houses.

A really beautiful and imposing old town. Great old houses. Sometimes they are beautifully renovated and well maintained and sometimes, unfortunately, very dilapidated. Small shops and boutiques bring the city center to life.

Hiking

The old town of Horta is quite manageable and limited to two streets running parallel to the water and the connecting alleys. The pavement on the sidewalks is absolutely worth seeing. Sometimes windmills, sometimes snakes or fish adorn the path. We recommend stopping off at the old market in Horta near the harbor. In addition to the stalls in the morning, a few nice bars and craft shops are open here.
