About Eric 🖖

Carpe bike!

In order to escape the oppressive cover of fog that is typical of the season and the place, the only option left in my area these days is to climb the Jura heights - so to speak, to break the cover into the light. The landscape in the border area when the fog pierces has this mystical touch, as does the view from above of the central plateau hidden under the fog blanket. In keeping with the mood, one of the great songs by van Morrison immediately comes to mind:
The temperature difference between the fog zone and the sunny slopes further above is remarkable.

Golden autumn hike with wonderful light and a view of the Alpine chain. In autumn with such conditions, this song always comes to mind - "Autumn Leaves". Originally a chanson based on the poem "Les Feuilles mortes" by Jacques Prévert, which has now become a jazz standard.
The interpretation of Richard Galliano or that of Eric Clapton is also remembered (not only because he is my namesake):
Acoustic mood in keeping with nature at this time of the year.

So, so to speak, a Welleness tour around and to the two lakes in golden autumn weather. No astronomical meters in altitude, rather enjoyment of the foresight and the landscape. A very recommendable round in autumn.

Relaxed and peaceful round in bright weather and golden autumn light on one of my favorite trails over the Bözingenberg.
Amazingly, it was pretty lonely up there, few hikers on the way. This can perhaps be explained by the fact that the rest of Bözingenberg is still closed due to company holidays.
After the longer dry phase, the trails are only slightly damp, and therefore still super grippy and easy to ride - if it weren't for a more or less worn tread pattern on my bikes that inspires me less confidence in terms of grip. A new couple really has to be raised next week.

As the first stress test after my flight day in Upper Basel and the corresponding convalescence with Doris, an easy, relaxed tour around Lake Biel. It went better than expected.
Of course, with adequate relaxation time out and about in Bistrot Martin Pêcheur (Hagneck) and to a couple of Ballon Chasselas in Caveau Ligerz. Since the grape harvest is imminent, I volunteered to make a little more space in the wine barrel. Should actually be a mandatory act when moving on the vineyard path ...

.... a story about palaces and fortresses, far-sighted rivers, remarkable art in forests and meadows, as well as unexpected airtime and damage reports ....In purely geographical terms, the tour leads from Eptingen over the Wisenberg and up to the Wisenflue, the Froburg and the Challhöchi. So not only on Oberbaselbieter but also on Solothurn soil - this in order to be politically correct. But let's start at the beginning. First there was the tempting weather forecast for the weekend and the growing desire to have my tunnel tires turned on the Belche again. Well, the weather wasn't that glamorous after all - shame on Meteo Switzerland. When you drive up the ramp to the Belchen from the foggy or overcast central plateau (sorry local patriots, but that's how it is ...) and disappear into the tunnel, you are very often greeted on the other side by better weather. Not so today - at least in the upper regions of the Upper Basel area. Instead of an atmospheric late summer day, my initial assessment was more of an early autumn subdued mood with a hint of melancholy. Nice too, but for today the weather circles had clouded my senses with the expectation of a hot summer crop. Now to the cultural aspects. The path crossed the sculpture path several times during the first half of the tour. Exciting what you encounter there, highly recommended. You can find a few visual impressions in my photo series for the tour. Especially the horsehair man (see photo) drove me in. Unaware, therefore, cycling, suddenly stands there in the dark forest.
      More on this at www.
The cultural content also includes the highlights of Schloss Wartenfels and Froburg, at least from a historical perspective. Definitely worthwhile to be included in a tour. Now for the airtime. Well, I'm probably less of the bike park type who is looking for flight insoles. Nevertheless, I came to Airtime today and lifted off the ground ... and off the bike too. Well, halfway, in the middle of the tour, a brain from a farmer pulled an unmarked and barely visible double electric fence wire over the asphalt driveway ... and me on a dynamic approach. Seen at the last moment and initiated emergency braking. With the usual outcome: enjoyed a little free flight upright over the handlebars. The bike flew in a split second later and kept me company on the ground. So it's a good, loyal bike. The damage report is as follows: Bike and equipment top-notch, possibly traces of a cosmetic nature, rider with bruised ribs, usual abrasions and wrist bruises. Conclusion: the material is more robust than the driver.Naturally, the sporty guts bought something from me. I was able to continue driving, but in addition to my battered self-esteem and cracked athlete's honor, my moves on the bike weren't quite as smooth as a result. As a result, when choosing the route, I decided less on the absolute super-troubled hero lines and trails with legendary character and instead preferred the chicken variant when there was a choice. In any case, in the end I arrived back in Eptingen a bit lampy and battered.Nevertheless, all in all an eventful tour with some highlights that will not only stay painfully in my memory for longer. Highly recommended.

The joint tour with Urs has already become a tradition for several years - this year it should be on the Chasseral. I would like to bring our King of the Jura closer to the guest from ZH and show them the impressive view from up there.
It was a great tour, Merci Urs, even if we had to endure a rain shower twice today with the mostly clear blue sky. Special weather phenomenon.
Strangely enough, Komoot just deleted the recording today - it was no longer to be found. So today I make do with uploading the planned tour, which we followed roughly with a few longer swings left and right. The photos were still on the mobile, the recording of the route no longer.

These days there seems to be a run on Lake Brienz - at least in the community. The tour is inspired by Regula, but also by Katrin and Roli, who recently followed almost identical tracks. Merci for that.
Wonderful circumnavigation, mainly following the official MTB route on the northern side of the lake. The first half on the south side is a bit trailier and interspersed with a few short sliding passages.
The highlight is of course the Giessbach Falls, which today already had a fairly substantial number of visitors from the Middle East and similar tourism sources. Tourismus Oberland will be happy.
