The town church of St. Jakob in Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a must for every city visit: In addition to the Holy Blood altar by Tilman Riemenschneider, the east choir impresses with its colorful windows in the morning - so get up early in the sunshine. The church is open from 9 a.m.

The St. Jakobskirche of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is the destination of all pilgrims on the Way of St. James in Central Franconia, which leads from Nuremberg over a total length of almost 100 km. In front of the church stands a life-size figure of the apostle James and points to the special significance of this church for the pilgrims. As a pilgrim, the visitor has free admission to the church by identifying himself with his stamp or pilgrim pass.

Rothenburg's main church St. Jakob was completed in 1485. 173 years was built at the church. Inside you will find in the eastern part of the Twelve-messenger altar by Friedrich Herlin and on the gallery in the west wing of the Holy Blood altar, created by the Würzburg sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider.
