Great place to rest and break up. Beautifully renovated, fantastic acoustics, powerful sanctuary ...

The church was first mentioned in 1230, but was expanded several times.

The Gothic brick church of St. Nicholas is idyllically situated on the edge of Grevesmühlen's old town, not far from the market square. You enter the three-aisled church through the light-filled southern porch, built in the 14th century. The stained-glass windows in the chancel, installed in 1969, create a particularly beautiful light at sunrise. Baptism services are celebrated in this special atmosphere. The old baptismal font (c. 1230) made of Gotland sandstone still serves as a baptismal font today. The church was originally built in the 13th century with a square chancel in late Romanesque style, to which a three-bay Gothic hall was eventually added. The mighty west tower with its adjoining rooms also dates from the Gothic period.Due to renovations in the 19th century, St. Nicholas is now a four-bay hall church. A polygonal chancel with side extensions now completes the church to the east.nikolaikirche-grevesmuehlen.de/gemeinde/kirche.html
