You have to get closer to see what little "treasures" are hidden here. From a distance, the work looks like an oversized bicycle stand. Only when you get a little closer do you see small balls and become curious about what they are all about.

Only from a short distance do you then discover small, rustic "works of art" in the transparent plastic balls, and you are amazed and happy about the nice surprise.

Almut Grypstra's installation Bernsteingewebe (Amber Fabric) is located on the meadow by the Westsee in Neuallermöhe. It was the result of a competition by the Allermöhe Communication and Art Association for art in public spaces for the district. Plastic balls are embedded in a three-dimensionally curved net made of stainless steel, like bycatch, and contain various finds from the streets of the district like little treasures. They are reminiscent of insects caught in pieces of amber. The artist refers to the location of the installation and artistically exaggerates the finds.
