Great view of the nature reserve

I would start at the "Die Reit" nature reserve and then cycle along the front dike of the Dove Elbe. On the other side of the Allermöher Deich there is often a lot of traffic.

Two tributaries of the Lower Elbe, the Dove and Gose Elbe, meander through the Vier- and Marschlande in the Hamburg district of Bergedorf. They were named after the Low German words for deaf – dov, and flat – goos. Between the confluence of the Gose Elbe and the Dove Elbe, which widens here to resemble a lake, and the Moorfleet dike, lies a unique water sports center and attractive recreation area, the Dove Elbe Water Park.

The surrounding cultural landscape and the adjacent "Reit" nature reserve to the south were also taken into account in the planning of the Dove Elbe Water Park. The Dove Elbe, which was dredged south of Eichbaumsee for gravel extraction, was also incorporated; a 2,000-meter rowing and canoeing course was established here in the 1980s, even meeting international standards for high-performance sports. Right next door, the Federal Sports Performance Center for rowers and canoeists opened in 1986. On non-competition days, the observation tower can be used as a viewing platform. Or you can get active yourself and rent a canoe or kayak at the Dove-Elbe Water Park, as the Dove and Gose Elbe rivers are considered idyllic, almost current-free paddling areas.
