In 1967 the first pedestrian bridge was built at this point. It led to the VEB Textilmaschinenbau Gera of the Textima combine on the left bank of the river, which is why it was colloquially referred to as Textimasteg. In the course of preparations for the Federal Horticultural Show 2007, this bridge was demolished in August 2005 and the new one was built. On March 28, 2006, it was officially named Textimasteg.
