The Ilian stairway is part of a medieval transport route and is located in the Nörten forest near the mountain "Hohe Steyer". It is a sandstone carved way, probably from the 13th century, in which the wheels of the former ox and horse carts were incorporated.

Exciting location, but you have to expect that you have to wear your bike now and then, as it is difficult to pass through storms and accordingly overturned trees.

There are a lot of soil monuments here in the Nörten Forest. Most are barrows. The Ilian staircase is certainly the most impressive ground monument.
