Cairn Bannoch is a 1,012 meters Munro mountain in the southern Cairngorms in the Scottish Highlands. It's often climbed as part of a circuit of Lochnagar hills (five Munros to the west of Loch Muick).
We started and finished at the Glas Allt Shiel bothy. The area has been a favourite of the royal family since Victorian times.

Cairn Bannoch is usually attained by walking the White Mounth, the name given to the range of hills here. Starting from Loch Muick, walking round from Lochnagar to Broad Cairn, 5 munros can be bagged in a day.
Great views across the rolling hills, paths on many sections of the walk with a few km pathless, the navigation is fairly straight forward. In poor visibility this peak may be harder to locate.

You can find some shelter among the huge boulders just below the summit to enjoy the view and a snack.
