Beinn a' Ghlò

Beinn a' Ghlò (hill of mist) is a ridge, which certainly lived up to its name today. Low clouds shrouded us in humid mist most of the day. Felt like a rainforest. A good chance to practice a bit of navigation.
There are 3 munros:
Carn Liath (grey rocky hill)…

Drinnie's observatory and Loudon stone circle

A walk around Pitfour Estate. Drinnie's observatory can be accessed through the red door during the summer months. The forest in front has been cleared, with views towards Mintlaw, Peterhead and Fraserburgh opening up. The stone circle was a little trickier to find. There is a path just to the…

Ellon to Maud and back

Hadn't ridden along here for a few years. Some sections have been improved. All the access points in particular are much better now. Paninis at Platform 5 café in Maud are still great.

Lucky you came at the weekend, during the week there are diggers etc just north of Ellon currently working on drainage and resurfacing. Been closed off several times.

Unscheduled overnighter in the Netherlands due to flight cancellations. Decided to brighten my day by starting with a bike ride. Followed the Waterlilly cycle path through Hoofdorp. Good plan too as experiencing further flight issues today.

New café at Buckie Farm! ☕️🥞

Easy Sunday cycle to check out the new Farm Shop and Café at Buckie Farm. They are having a soft opening this week as part of staff training. Such a great new asset for users of the Formartine and Buchan Way with direct access for cyclists and walkers. They had…

🚲🥾 Càrn Bhac and Beinn Lutharn Mhòr

Started from Inverey for a bike and hike to two munros: Càrn Bhac [Hill of peat hags] and Beinn Lutharn Mhòr [Big Hill of the Edge]. Cycled to the end of the track at the ruin of Altanour Lodge, which is behind a deer fence (~8km cycle).

Carn an Tuirc, Carn of Claise, Tolmount & Tom Buidhe

My first solo munro adventure, thanks to Scotland's ⚽️ world cup bank holiday.
A brilliant day out and a great route. Parts could be very boggy after rain though!
I contoured across from Carn an Tuirc to Tolmount - perhaps the boggiest part. Even found a very thin snow tunnel…

Mayar and Driesh

Headed to Glen Clova today. A later start as the weather was due to improve in the afternoon. Bagged one of the last parking spaces and headed through the forest to Corrie Fee. It's very picturesque once you get there, although the initial approach through the forestry isn't too exciting.…

First organised bike event! Joint Stonehaven's Midsummer Beer Happening Sportive, participating in the gravel event. It was a fun, untimed amd social event. Although a few people got flat tyres as someone had put tacs 📌 out in Fetteresso forest 😣.
The snack station was a welcome stop.
