In Mertesheim near Grünstad, there was a Romanesque church from an early stage, which Count Ludwig Eberhard von Leiningen had rebuilt and extended to the east in 1504. The "jewel box" is around 500 years old and has a high altar from the High Renaissance that is unique in the region. Also worth seeing from an art historical perspective are a baptismal font (1507) carved from a block of sandstone and the pulpit (1704). The church also contains relics of Saint Valentine.
