In the beautiful, approximately 140-acre heathland you can enjoy the nature during a walk. The view over the heather blossoms to the sea is unique, which you should not miss on a holiday on Sylt.

In the beautiful heath landscape you can enjoy the nature during a hike. The view over the heather blossoms to the sea is unique, which you should not miss on a holiday on Sylt. On Sylt about half of all heathlands in Schleswig-Holstein can be found. In the Braderuper heath grow mainly three heather types. From April to May the crowberry blossoms here, from July the bell heath and in late summer the broom heath. In addition to numerous endangered species, some plants are on the Red List of endangered species.

The Braderuper Heide is located between Kampen and the village Braderup in the east of the island. Since 1979, the 137-acre area is under conservation. Trails run through the gently rolling countryside, which offers a beautiful view of the Wadden Sea National Park to the mainland.

One of the most beautiful hiking areas on the island. The side of Sylt that faces away from the lake should not be underestimated. 😉

The nature reserve is characterized by extensive heaths. The most important herders are crowberry (bears fruit from June), broom heath (blooms from August) and bell heather (blooms from June). Heath plants go through a particular life cycle). Here you can admire the other side of Sylt. Unique!

Due to the scarcely developed flora in March, the migration through the heathland was less spectacular than at other seasons, but one can savor the seclusion to the fullest.
