The Pottery Museum is housed in the former Latin school of Thurnau, which was founded in 1552 and existed until 1914. The museum opened in 1982. Its core collection is a collection of Thurnau pottery belonging to Günther and Luise Stüdemann. Numerous loans and donations supplement the collection.
