From the viaduct you have a wonderful view of Oberbarmen and the Schwebebahnhof, as well as the row of houses on the Schwarzbach. In the direction of the Wichlinghauser Tunnel, the viaduct runs exactly between two houses - a highlight for me personally!

It's fun to drive over the houses of Wuppertal, but of course you can't see much of the viaduct when you're ON IT. :-)

                  History

The line was opened by the Prussian State Railway on February 3, 1890.[4] Of particular importance was the connection of the coal railway to the main line. In addition, passenger trains running on the Wuppertal-Wichlinghausen–Hattingen line were also partially connected to Oberbarmen. After regular passenger service was discontinued at the end of 1979, the connecting curve was used only for transfer trains and the popular "Around Wuppertal" special tours. Despite its low usage, the Schwarzbach viaduct was extensively renovated in 1981. In 1996, freight traffic was finally closed, and two years later, the line between Langerfeld and Wichlinghausen was closed. The section up to the junction to the Wuppertal-Langerfeld freight yard remains in use.

The Elberfeld town hall has been renovated in several steps since the mid-2000s.
