Bike Touring Highlight
As the largest project, the association is responsible for converting the route of the disused Wuppertaler Nordbahn - section of the Düsseldorf-Derendorf – Dortmund Süd section to a pedestrian and bicycle path. This includes the preservation of the listed art structures, including six tunnels and four stone viaducts that shape the cityscape.
The particular urban significance of the Nordbahntrasse lies in the fact that a continuous cycle path is being created for the first time in Wuppertal, which has so far been unsuitable for cyclists due to its narrow valley and steep mountains. Over 100,000 people live in the immediate catchment area of one kilometer on either side of the route. Numerous schools and public facilities are in the vicinity and can therefore be reached on a daily basis via a foot and bike path on the Nordbahntrasse.

Pleasant one does not come from Wuppertal-Vohwinkel from the valley to Sprockhövel - and the view over Wuppertal is sometimes really impressive.

The Nordbahntrasse is a former railway line that was closed in the 1980s and runs from the former Schee station in the east to Wuppertal-Vohwinkel in the west across Wuppertal, with some wonderful views of the city.

The entrance is at the breakpoint Bracken. "downhill" leads to Wuppertal. In the other direction to the Schee tunnel to Sprockhövel or Witten. Actually it does not matter ..... all directions offer their charm.

At the station Schee or at the tunnel Schee is the eastern entrance of the Nordbahntrasse and goes from the tunnel to the railway incision or until the interruption of the route in Oberbarmen steadily slightly downhill and is pleasant to drive.

The Nordbahntrasse is already as well known as a colorful dog. For all travel planners, connection via Sprockhövel to Hattingen and via Krokenzieher route to Solingen. Have fun

Great what the city of Wuppertal did there. Respect. I liked that very much. Just think of the 50s and 60s, when the steam engines rattled past the houses.
