Villa Weigang was built in 1903 by the then 26-year-old Rudolf Weigang as an Art Nouveau city palace. Rudolf Weigang and his wife Dorothee moved into the villa after their wedding on September 5, 1903.
Professor Alvin Anger, born on November 29, 1859, an architect at the Dresden School of Applied Arts, was commissioned to design and execute the building. Anger taught, among other subjects, the study of light and shadow, wrote the "New Textbook of Perspective" in 1910, and was a recognized figure in the architectural community of the time.
